    Engine tuning - 2000 DHS

Hey new to the boards here! Right now I am looking to get a tuner for my 2000 DHS but not sure what to turn to for a programmer. Another note has anyone had an issues with putting an aftermarket intake on these cars? or even exhaust? not that i want to the car to be loud but whenever the stock exhaust happens to fail....not going to the dealer for a new exhaust because that wil cost too much for my likings.

    Thanks

    Re: Engine tuning

No such thing as a tune, tuner, chip, anything else for this series of FWD Northstar Cadillacs. Discussed endlessly in here, Seville, and in Engines, Northstar Performance.

What you have is what you got - and your DHS is also hobbled by the economy 3.11 final drive - the DTS has the 3.71 performance final drive (as well as different cams and PCM programming).

An aftermarket intake will do exactly nothing - the present factory CAI flows more air than the engine can handle at full throttle redline already. Boutique oily air filters do nothing, either - except screw up the MAF.

CORSA used to make an exhaust cat-back for your car, but no longer - and you need to be careful about mufflers/resonator delete due to highway drone.

Your drivetrain is the highway cruise 275 hp VIN Y; DTS (through 2004) has the VIN 9 300 hp package. Pictures and diagrams of some of your engine parts in my albums.

Re: Engine tuning - 2000 DHS

I have spent over a decade compiling a list of PROVEN mods -
to either increase power - or increase mileage - or both -

you will find that complete and comprehensive list below -
between the two red lines -

if you DON'T see the mod - part - fluid - listed there -
it doesn't add/do anything - and is a total waste of money -

ready? OK - here is the list -

    ---------------------------------------
    ---------------------------------------

"WAIT" you say - "THERE ISN'T ANYTHING THERE"

that is correct - there is nothing you can "program in" -
bolt on - stick on - glue on - pour in - remove - alter -
change - paint - or chrome - that will add even one single HP -
or increase gas mileage by the slightest measurable amount -

you have the DHS model Deville -
the MOST LUXURIOUS model Cadillac produced -

enjoy the car for what it is - don't blame it for what it isn't -

    I've said it before:

    Wasting money = lighter wallet.

    Lighter wallet = reduced weight.

Reduced weight = improved acceleration, braking, handling, and fuel mileage...

This man Is able to re-tune your ECM. He is the only company in existance that does as such (He seems to be a one man operation). I have met him personally for a tune. He stands by his work. We tried working on a fuel economy tune, but it just didn't pan out so he gave me a full refund. His man clientel with the Northstar's are GXP's as they are more of a sports car.

Re: Engine tuning - 2000 DHS

The OP does NOT have an "ECM" - he has a PCM - and I'll bet that it hasn't been properly hacked yet...... the 2000 - 2004 FWD Cadillac PCM series.

When MadTuner becomes a paid Vendor, then he can sell his product - and he doesn't need a shill to do that.

There are exactly no specifics on the site as to what this "tune" does. No dyno results, not even a claim of gains. All it says in item details is "full/performance tune".

One more unauthorized advertising spam post and you're gone forever.
You are correct. I mispoke it is a PCM, not an ECM. Big difference. Just a simple, but major, mistake in word choice. He does seem to have it fully cracked, though. Can I prove it, no. He did refund me in full, though when he could not accomplish my goal. No questions asked. I have a different generation PCM, though.

How can you call me a Spammer and refer to my message as unauthorized advertising? The OP asked about tuning his engine and I responded with my PERSONAL experience with a man who does what he was asking. Your message was uncalled for and an outright insult. I am also not the first to talk about this company on the forums. But I am the first to be scolded for it.

You are definitly correct in that regard. Which was why I opted to make the 2 hour drive and meet him in person. I wanted reassurance it was not some sort of scam. He does not have a blanket Tune, I guess would be why he does not post any specific numbers. Each one is different. But, definitly not reassuring. Like I stated, I was not after any performance increase. I just wanted to see if he could boost my fuel economy. Just did not pan out for a DeVille. His name is around on other message forums from users, such as Aurora forums & GXP's. A user on these forums also had a post about him. I beleive it was on his STS. He did not do any engine tuning if I remember, though. Just shift changes. Would have to find the posts again.

I have heard of Madtuner before, I'd just be very skeptical about a tune for this generation Northstar. Others have tried to "crack" it before.

FWIW, Go back in time and search threads by AJxtcman and others in threads on PCM tuning and engine modification. There is a wealth of information on engine controls work in "PCM tuning" and in threads by pcmcalibrators and wester's garage.

Google "wester's garage canada" and see if the 2000 - 2004 Cadillac PCM tune work is still "coming soon". (Price list)

techincally the main limiter of that engine is the valve springs they reach float at around 6k rpms if you really wanted to you could get new springs form chrfab and do a cam swap and there is also a company that works with them directly that can retune the ecu for you but you would need new injectors as well
