Turn off the Twilight Sentinel - they're an unnecessary bell/whistle anyway.

But when you need headlights and turn them on manually the dash lights are also supposed to turn on. That's what his isn't doing.

No. Stupid as it sounds, if the photocell decides it's not dark out, the dash/interior lights won't turn on with the switch, just the exterior lights.

That's just f**ked up. I can possibly understand the interior lights being controlled that way but the whole reason for the headlight switch is to have manual control of the headlights and the dash lights are part of that. Talk about a huge safety issue if it's up to the car to decide when the dash lights should come on.

Yup. The only advantage it has is on cars with digital gauges, and last gen Sevilles and Devilles. It keeps the gauges from dimming when the lights are turned on in the daylight.

What pray tell are you waiting for padre, A sign from above?

Not exactly, but having had a few issues that I didn't feel competent enough to tackle on my own has hit my pocketbook kind of hard lately and the manual isn't cheap.

Anyone who enters the priesthood for the money should have had a better guidance counselor in school, LOL

Now I'm beset with another troubling symptom (see new thread). Every time I get a little cash set aside to do something I WANT to do to the car something comes along that has to be done and it usually costs about double what I have set aside.

I am the 3rd owner of the car and it is at 113,000 miles and I am beginning to suspect the owner before me didn't bother too much with maintenance. It looks nearly mint on the outside, but I am having to handle things that proper maintenance would have already taken care of.

That's a tad high for a '97 manual. I'd have thought you could found one cheaper on Ebay.

    EDIT:
Ahh, Ask and ye shall receive.
