    Thumbs up 1998 Deville runs hot after I reset codes

    after reset my codes in my 1998 Cadillac Deville my car seems to run a lot hotter than usual before to reset my codes and with the AC on my car was at 196 now with the AC on it runs at 215, I turn off the AC and with stop and go traffic I am at 223 should I be worried
    This website has been a fantastic resource in the last six months I have been able to do self repairs on my vehicle so I thank everybody that has join andb moore cad.jpg given their resources and knowledge thank you

    Resetting/clearing DTC's from the car's system has nothing to do with the engine coolant temperature.

    No A/C, stop&go traffic - 223 is perfectly normal - under those conditions (no A/C function set) fans don't even go to SLOW until 224 - then the engine cools to 213 and the cycle starts over.

    Dirty radiator/A/C condenser fins ?? .......... and 223 is not "hot". Warm, yes. Not hot - as far as the engine is concerned.

    Have you checked the purge line?

    Are you using any coolant?

    Your temps are just to the point were you want to keep an eye on it. If they start to climb, then it might be time to worry.

    And like Sub said... that's what its suppose to do

    occasionally mine will get to 230/233 and drop back down to 215 after the fans kick on high

    normal operations
