You have air in the system. Start by checking the purge line for coolant flow. Do a search for purge line if you need help. Been discussed a gazillion times.

Blew through the purge line from which end? And that's not really the best way to check for clogs.

you SHOULD be getting a constant - gentle flow of coolant -
from the engine - to the serge tank - through the PURGE line -

    Re: heat help ?

yes sir, I noted that, basscatt.. im thinking the whole problem was the crack in the radiator, causeing air buildup. im gonna go ahead and do the thermostat also, as the old one looks factory.. well, it seems pretty old. I thank you gents for your input.. stay tuned, i'll update after its all back together.. ps) gonna do an oil change as well.. should be all set to go after this.

Thermostats are pretty reliable for these engines. use the original AC Delco unit which starts at 188 and is fully open at 206.

Use the annotated temp gauge picture in my albums for reference. The Community tab ^^^, Albums. The red Seville - 2 albums, 120 pictures and diagrams of stuff for the 2000 - 2004 FWD Northstar cars.

Ebay is your friend for an owners manual.

To find out why the SES light is on see the DTC Sticky at the top of the forum page.
