    Dash rattle passenger side

    Re: 1988 Fleetwood d'Elegance

There is a rattle coming from corner of dash on passenger side. I removed dash upper trim panel and couldn't locate anything lose that might be making the noise. I have also removed glove box and again couldn't find a culprit. It's very annoying and it doesn't matter if its cool or warm or air running or not. Had wife drive from dinner so I could sit on that side and it never made the noise!!! Of course when we left Lowe's it wouldn't stop and I wasn't driving. Does anyone have any suggestions? Leave upper dash trim off and see if I can locate noise?

    Anyone have any s

Humor me and apply a slight amount of wheel bearing grease to ALL the hood bumpers. The front 2 and the others at the rear of the hood. I fought a rattle for a week and found it by accidently leaving the hood on the secondary latch while driving ( not fully closed) and the noise was gone! The dry rubber hood bumpers can echo thru the dash and sound like the dash is coming apart.

I will defintely give this a try. It will be a few weeks before I have the Cadillac back as it is in storage in right now while I'm driving the other car.

    Thanks for the suggestion!

This didn't help unfortunately. Is it possible the speaker has something lose and vibrating? I did not remove speaker but didn't notice anything amiss with it.

The plastic electrical connectors under the dash pad should all have a foam covering on them. They come ts way from the factory, presumably to prevent rattling. If one of those foam pieces has slid out of position, or is missing, that could be the rattle.

Update - I finally figured it out. The housing for the wires coming down from the roof to the dash on the inside had come loose from the pillar. It was vibrating against the trim piece since they are both hard plastic. I secured the housing and put some padding inside the trim panel and all it quiet now!
