Please confirm: the 1997 DeVille is FWD, correct?

I'm looking at a 1997 DeVille being sold by a private seller and he assures me it's RWD.

I'm pretty confident that they were not RWD. Can you please confirm?

    Thank you, as always.

Devilles have been FWD since 1985 ... you can take a look under the car to confirm that there is no driveshaft under the car and no rear rear diff or drive axles

That's just what I told this guy. He insists it's RWD. Makes me wonder what else he doesn't know about it, or if in fact he's the owner. Thanks for confirming what I thought. Cheers.

Yeah if he's that incompitent I would steer clear of this clown.

Like Chris said, they've been FWD for almost 25 years. If he doesn't know that by now, he doesn't know jack! Trust only what you can see and confirm for yourself and nothing of what he says.

Wonder if he's ever opened the hood for anything other than to add windshield washer fluid. then he may have noticed that the engine's sideways, and the transmission's next to the left fender...

Re: Please confirm: the 1997 DeVille is FWD, correct?

I remember in the early 2000s I used to travel on business during the worst winter weather, and would always rent DeVilles from Avis, because I knew that even in a bad snowstorm I'd be fine, while I'd see Benz and BMW and other RWD luxury cars spinning their wheels and slipping and sliding all over. I always felt really safe, plus I still say the DeVille is my favorite luxury car (the 1997-1999 model).

This guy, I believe although I can't be sure, is posting pics of other people's cars on Kijiji and saying they're for sale. When I gave him the link to this thread to prove my point, he got defensive, beligerent, and nasty.

I should have bought that silver '99 that I posted about in this forum in February, it was a beauty. Now it's been sold... ;(

I'd let 5-0 know of this fool. That is LOW.

I can't prove it Luke, or I would. When I asked him for the location of the vehicle so I could look at it, he gave me a very general area that doesn't coincide with the listing at all.
