Intro and Question About 2004-2005 LD8 DeVille

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum but figured that I would join since I've been cruising this site for information. I'd like to thank everyone who unwittingly gave me a lot of material for daydreams and various ambitious thoughts.

I drive a 2004 Pontiac Bonneville GXP (as my friend's father once said "the poor man's Cadillac"). It has about 95,000 miles on it and shares the LD8 04-05 Norhstar with the 04-05 DeVille. I've had a love/hate relationship with the car since I purchased it two years ago.

I've recently found out that the PCM has been cracked and can be tuned. As a result, I'm considering forced induction. I'd love to use a supercharger, but I know that they don't really exist for these engines (please let me know if I'm wrong). What I'm thinking, then, is turbocharging. I've been searching high and low but just can't find any pictures of a turbocharged setup on this engine. So, I have two questions:

    1. Does anyone know of a member or someone I can contact who has boosted one of these engines?

    2. What parts would I need to look into buying apart from the turbo, wastegate, and piping (ie. bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump)?

I understand that this is a bit of an unusual inquiry since neither the DeVille or GXP are considered very sporty but I don't need this car for a daily driver and selling it isn't something I can do right now, so why not look at making it a weekend cruiser that can do some spanking at the strip?

    Thank you for your time!

That's about all that can be done for the N*. It CAN be done, but it is SPENDY.

If you want a hotrod Cadillac, the CTS-V is a fantastic hotrod, and like any other GM LS powered car, responds well to mods.

Thank you for the information. I read some of his posts--it looks like he ran into issue after issue putting that much power down.

I would die and go to heaven in a CTS-V, but I can't afford one right now and the Bonneville isn't paid off so I can't sell it either.

I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place and all I want to do is go vroom.

There are less expensive LS powered cars than the V... I would look for minimally an LS6 or LS2 (I'm a little biased there), i am told the LS1 motors are harder to tune. I was able to squeeze an extra 60hp out of my LS2 for super cheap!

You can find LS6 GTO's for way under 10k and LS6 CTS V's for just over 10k... You would easily be at 10k if you decide to go forced induction in your Northstar... Just my 2 pennies

It may not be the pavement eater that you are looking for, but an LD8 Northstar with a 3.71:1 4T80E is a decently fast car in its own right. Save up for something bigger and better after you pay off the GXP.
