    slow acceleration in o/d 92 deville 4.9

i've recently noticed my caddy is having difficulty accelerating from a stop when in drive. if i put it manually in first it goes like normal but in drive it revs up but goes slow until it hits around 30. any ideas? i've already done a transmission filter and fluid change. i thought that might be the problem but its not. im at a loss here.

    Maybe an internal trans problem.

Have you checked to be sure you do not have a dragging brake?

Try to do an over ride on the 2 shift solniods through the consul and see if you can hear them clicking. Also so take a close look at the wiring harness big plug to the transmission and see if you have deteriorating wires.

Is it taking off in 2nd? A blown fuse will cause that. If it is really revving up then that sounds like slipping to me.

it'll take off in manual 1,2,3 just not in drive. im hoping its not slipping i cant afford to have to take the tranny off and fix it.

You are either going to need a FSM or someone who has one and can type out the procedure.

i have solved this problem by putting a 30 amp fuse in the fuse box behind the glove box the fuse that previously had melted in the block and i had wired in a new fuse block the fuse that controls the ecc the egr valve etc. any smaller amperage fuse either blew or started melting immediately but 30 amp works perfectly.

Fuses are a safety device. Replacing them with a larger fuse is looking for trouble and when it comes knocking it will be bigger than what you started with.

Does your AC work? I wonder if unplugging the AC compressor will take the load off that fuse?

Unhappy Re: slow acceleration in o/d 92 deville 4.9

The a/c only blows on defrost as the ecc doesn't work now the fdc isn't working I'm going to replace the bcm and see if that fixes the problem with the ecc and fdc while i search for the short. at least i think its a short that is causing the problem. idk this car has been a pain since i bought it last year. the previous owner had the ac serviced then had the fuse melt in the fusebox then i bought it and wired in a new fuse box but the ecc was only working for a short time after that it went out.

The fuse started heating up and smoking so i stopped and pulled the fuse then drove home then disconnected the compressor andpulled the wires out of the corregated wire tunnels all the way up to crossover pipe and couldn't find any obvious shorts except down at the end where someone put in some sort of rubber thing that had all of the wires going into it which makes no sense to me so i cut it out and reconnected the wires separatly. plugged it back in and did a test drive and it started heating up again so i unplugged the compressor again so we shall see what happens.
