So how bad are the head gaskets?

    Howdy Ya'll

So I recently picked up a 99 DeVille with 70k miles, I was unaware of the issues with head-gaskets on this car when I bought it. My question to you is, how many need head-gaskets? 80%? 50%? 20%?

I know it's a used car and they ALL have issues, but this is a pretty large issue.
So should I keep it till the HG blows then junk it, or trade it in now while I'm ahead?

    Thanks!

Same question asked several hundred times - Go down to Engines; Northstar Performance and read the pertinent sticky posts. One with a non-scientific poll on Northstar problems.

Know one knows what the failure rate is (but the '99 seems to be the highest).

Whether to keep it or not is your choice. Buy your ticket and take your chances.
