    Re: Question

By disconnecting the battery you dumped the ECM's memory. The ECM will need to relearn all of it's fuel correction tables. This will take a few days of driving. I used to have a dodge mini van that took 2 weeks of running before it would run smooth again after a battery disconnection.

    Re: Question

Will everything be ok after that? Is that why it starts and runs like crap for the first 10 sec.this is a great car and the only other problem I have is the keyless entry don't work. Bought it that way but the security light flashes when I open the door but that's for another day.thanks

It's just going through an idle relearn. There's a quick way to do the relearn, it should be explained in your owners manual.

Have you checked the FPR? If it's leaks down after shut down, it just might be running rich and burning off excess fuel. A leaky fuel injector could have the same effect.

Re: Question - 1993 Deville idle relearn

I cannot find anything in the book about it.it still runs and drives great.never had a problem before..will it work itself out if I keep driving it? Can I add a fuel additive on a fill up to clean the inside of Motor up or no.like I said it runs fine.thanks.Richard

Re: Question - 1993 Deville idle relearn

If there is something wrong, it will not heal itself. If it's an idle learn problem, yes it will relearn on it's own, but I doubt that's the problem. "Idle learn" is idle speed related.

Additive question answered in your other thread.

I took "runs like crap" as lopes or sputters from low idle. My mothers '90 Seville did it once after reconnecting the battery.

If it was running fine before the tire change, I don't see what could have gone wrong.

I didn't pick up on that MC. If that's all that was done, then ignore it and it'll probably go away. Take two aspirin and call us in the morning if it doesn't get better.

You don't have to unhook anything, the compressor is disabled when the ignition is off.

In all honesty, I can't recall my '92 ever doing that after a battery disconnect. Then again, that was a long time ago.
