Appreciate some advice on 1999 Deville

I would appreciate some advice on 1999 Cadillac Deville v8 4.6L?

And im very new to the Cadillac world and this website

    I recently acquired this vehicle

Paid 1500 and with 127,777 original miles

I changed the fuel injectors and their o rings, also changed spark plugs, the oil, and added tranny fluid car had no tranny fluid.

Air filter and fuel sensor cleaned the manifold and throttle.*Added fuel injector cleaner 3 times.

*Also added new fuel filterSome part that goes into the the air intake manifold, I don't know the name of it but it looks like a cone and its got a small arm that connects to it*A vacuum conects to it. Haaha*Aah...*Replace air intake... part that attaches to the throttle body , honeycomb screen in it

Now the car used to burn off fuel as if it was in its pure form the engine wasn't burninge it off correctly*This is what two people who are knowledgable in vehicles had agreed upon.

After the added work and cleaning put into the vehicle. It no longer puts off the rich fuel odor.Well the car idles a lil odd still but not as dramatically as before; and when it does feel odd most is whenever I'm paused on the road. At a light or in park

Also after the labor put in, there's a high pitched sound . And it's loudest within the vicinity of the throttle body.I was advised that it might be caused by a vacuum leak.

I do think the gasket in the throttle cracked.
Strongly believe this is the cause.

The car currently shakes a bit when I get up to 60-70mph
So... I'm nervous and curious as to what is going on.

I have a Haynes book but I know those books aren't meant to be followed word for word. They're famous for being a little off.

    So..... uh yup

I'm positive the car was NOT well taken care of.
The woman just had this poor baby sitting in the weather.
And the guy only owned the car for a week, he was as honest as could be when you boil it down

    ----------

The car is missing 8 lugnuts so would it be wise to get new wheels when I get the chance to replace the nasty dry tires they left me with

Go to the sticky thread on how to pull codes, pull your codes, and report back. That will help a ton.

Now with the whistle, I agree, vacuum leak. Remove the beauty cover, and with the engine on, spray the rubber hoses with throttle body cleaner. If you hear the engine RPM increase, you found a leak.

With the shaking, make sure your wheels and tires are balanced.

    Welcome!

Re: Appreciate some advice on 1999 Cadillac Deville

    Yeah .

Baught the car 3/18 this year.
And I cleaned throttle body the sensors that are "in" ehm the whole air intake manifold I cleaned with carburetor cleaner

I don't know what more or what the next step should be

I have a feeling the gas meter. Detector is off or something is clogging something up. Or perhaps just the computer or something electrical is thrown off because it's never been checked or replaced

And this realy bums me out because as much as I enjoy doing everything myself I can't spend to many hours working on my car because of the sciatica I deal with.

Haha but boy do I have the time, =.=

I would just like to be able to get this lil thing running good so it won't break down on me in my quest of searching for employment.

I do have a 2nd car but my nissan altima isn't in the best conditions after the rear end accident we both survived somewhat

Re: New to the Cadillac & this Forum Appreciate some advice on the bugs

You do realize that your car has a dry sump transmission and there should be NO FLUID on the dipstick with the engine off ??? Fluid level is checked with the engine/transmission hot, idling in P on a level surface.

If the wheels appear to be good, new tires and size 12 X 1.5 GM lug nuts with trim covers is just fine.

Pictures and diagrams of some parts for your car are in my albums - the Community tab ^^^, Albums, the red Seville.

Subscribe the car to www.alldatadiy.com and/or get a real GM/Helm service manual set from eBay or www.helminc.com.

Forget the octane comment. It is irrelevant.

Loud whistle? Sounds like a vacuum leak at the manifold over pressurization valve not seating properly. It's a spring loaded flap door behind the P/S pump. Seems like I've been posting this a lot lately.

As for running rich, have you checked for a leaky FPR?

Re: Appreciate some advice on 1999 Deville

You'll have to remove the intake to get to it.

It remains closed. It only gets "blown" open in the case of an over pressure event (backfire). As it's name implies it is a relief valve to prevent the manifold from exploding. If it where stuck wide open, it would be a giant vacuum leak and would be exactly like holding the throttle plate wide open. The engine would race at WOT and bounce off the rev limiter.

The hose connected to it is just a vacuum line. If the noise is on the other end of the manifold, it's not from the over pressurization relief valve.

Re: Appreciate some advice on 1999 Deville

So regardless of the mechanical bugs causing a lil rumble

    I have come to discover...

Well actually enlighten and finally made my father realize that yes indeed my tires are not for my vehicle

225/60/16 two of those and a

    215/60/16

    And a 225/55/15

Who the FLIP does that to any vehicle period!?!?!?! Is my question

    And ball joints need replacing

    Plus:
    4studs two on each front

1 stud back passenger right side

The rotors have been worn to where they have a lip
Been told that's. The cause of not having them resurfaced and just slapping new brakes on the vehicle.

So all in all I've got quite a few bugs to get rid off

Someone put an odd sized rim on the car?

There's over 2"s difference in diameter between the largest and smallest tire.
