    Re: I have issues - 1994 Deville 4.9

    Thanks for checking on me

I am trying to track down the no heat problem.

Heater valve? is the tee in hose from thermostate to heater core.
Mine looks like a 3/4" plumbing tee.
    Ordered a correct part.
Need help with "installed correctly such that the orfice is in the correct location"
I assume the orfice goes down to the water pump and the arrow points to the heater core inlet.
Page = 1B-45 (veiw A) is as close as i can get to that part in the service manual (It tells me nothing about orientation).

    Picture is from - http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...different.html

    Thanks

Not certain about the arrow. I can check on mine later.
I do know there is a restriction in one side of the Tee. This should be on the side that goes to/from the heater core.

    Re: I have issues - 1994 Deville 4.9

So while i wait for the mail to bring the valve/Tee thingy.
Some parts for the rear suspension arrived.
First came the Arnott air pump. Replacement was interesting; Cadillac left just enough room to snake the compressor out over the muffler.
The muffler was not in the best of condition so when i pulled it down to get the compressor out it messed up (Yay! i get to order more parts).
Tested the compressor and it works as i figured the shocks are shot.
Today the shocks arrived Monroe Part Number 40046 .
This is a base Deville with FE1 suspension.
I pulled drivers side rear tire off and find a Monroe Part Number 90009 Load Assist Shock.
Some wiring hanging - Two wires just long enough to reach the shock.
Why? what could it have gone to? this vehicle did not have active suspension that i know of.
Then i find the air line knotted up in the corner.
So the jacked up shock will not come out. I collapsed it and wired it and still no luck. Will try again tomorrow.

Them passive load assist shocks are difficult to deal with.
Had to wire them compressed and drop the end of the lower control arm.
Wish i knew where the two wires at the top of shock tower went.

I got the air line boot clips off a seville; The electric connector was large and at the bottom. No two wires at the top.
Also noticed the seville has a level control an each side the deville drivers side only.

Put the heater hose valve/Tee thingy on today.
Will see what that does; Thanks for the help with orientation.
I ran thru the diagnostics and diagnostic trees. Could find nothing amiss with climate control systems that way.
Ordered a heater core to be ready for next step or just have on hand.

Wish someone could give me a clue about the found wires.
Both sides rear - top of shock towers.
    Two wires into one connector.
Short length; just long enough to reach top of shocks.

Took the lady of the house out to help test the rear suspension this morning.
We set on the trunk lip. the compressor came on and lifted us. She thought that was neat
So far i have not found any defects in my repairs and installation.

    Making progress
Only a few more concerns to go.
Did notice while i was in the rear suspension i will need knuckle bushings soon.

    Anyone ever heard of these?
    http://www.mcbayperformance.com/category_s/2965.htm
    Anyway to justify the cost?
I can get all four stock type bushings and have them pressed in for about 180.00

    Have another idea?

The wires are ride control related. The car did not have RSS, but it did have speed sensitive suspension.

    Re: I have issues - 1994 Deville 4.9

Ok i did the heater core.
Three things that i did not see in my research on heater core replacement here.
1 - There is no third case screw on this 1994 DeVille. Just the two in the front. It has a tab and slot in the back. So no need to pull PCM.
2 - After you complete the task and your doing your inpections of your work; Put the blower and heat on high. Check for case leaks.
I had one in the front lower corner of case (a pretty good one) where the original seal had trouble making the corner. A little Butyl Rubber Tape sealed that easily.
The heat from the now working heater helped work it into the seam
3 - there may be no need to disconnect air bag wiring (I did not do it but it looked possible) to pull out both end of the cover/door in the back of glove box then thread the whole mess out the back.

Was not to bad of a job; everything is fairly straight forward

    And now we have heat
I told the lady of the house we may want to get naked and try the Deville out as a sauna

    P.S.
I do not know what is in the old heater core but it weighs three pounds

Guess i am the only one having trouble with the forum.
Can not use the normal entry point.
Can not access anything on the personal line.

    So the heat works great.
    BUT
The A/C compressor clutch tore up.
So ordered more parts for the latest issue.

Still better than the new stuff and no pymnts.
