    When to change oil

My 2002 DTS has 60K miles and has been driven very little since the oil was changed about 15 months ago. I use Mobil 1; the oil monitor shows 92% should I change the oil now? In other words should I be changing on a calendar basis instead of mileage/oil monitor basis?

    Thanks

Yes. Change it every 12 months, regardless of mileage or oil type.

Thanks for the quick reply; I'll be changing it later today before we leave for FL.

I only put about 5000k a year on my vehicles and I change my oil every April and November, I think its good to get rid of the winter oil and have fresh for spring/summer. IMO.

    Re: When to change oil

^^^ Same here - relatively low mileage the past 4 years, so I do the oil/filter sometime in March. The manuals (service and owner's) say to follow the OLM or once a year, whichever occurs first.

vettman, This is strictly personal experience and opinion, but you might want to find a 20 oz. bottle of Chevron TECHRON and dump it in the tank with a fill-up of a Top Tier gasoline - the first day of interstate running will be perfect for a thorough fuel system cleanout run ......... Google "techron" and "top tier" for reading info.

Roger on the Techron; I was planning to do this; think I have two bottles left from the case I bought at Costco. I'm just in from changing the oil, so should be set for the trip south.
