Looking for a little advice - Keys and TheftLock
So I just got my 2000 Cadillac Deville Base with 77K miles. And yesterday I got in turned my car on and got the security light was solid illuminated and a message on the DIC said Service Theft System. So I turned the car off and restarted it. No messages. So just now it happened again leaving five guys and same thing turning off cleared the message. So when I got home I pulled the VTD codes and
B1009 EEPROM Checksum Error,
B2734 Coded Key Controller Memory Failure
B2960 Sec Sys Sensor Data Incorrect but Valid
as history. No VTD currents.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advanced.

Re: Looking for a little advice as to where to start
My guess wold be, after 13 years of use and abuse, the VATS system (reads the pellet on your key) may be in the early stages of failure. Snoop around on the forums, there's ways of fixing it (new wires or a resistor).

I looked around prior top posting and all I was someone spray WD-40 in the keyhole

So what would you suggest I do in this case?

Those codes point to a bad module but before replacing that I would suggest trying another key.

So use the number 2 key and if persistent what module would this be indicative of?

I haven't had a chance to look at my fsm yet but the module you are looking for is under the ignition key cylinder behind that rubber cover. I saw your new thread of codes and those still point to a bad module. I will let you know what I found out in the fsm when I get to it.

Ok thanks a lot! Hopefully it will pinpoint the module for me.
