Another 95 N* with a few more codes...

    Hi.
I have been lurking and gleaning for the last two weeks. I just picked up my Deville. It is spotless as "grandpa" even had two layers of floor mats. The car is super clean with only 77,000 miles. It looks great, but...

After a couple of weeks I am still getting three codes
    P029 Transaxle Shift 'B' Solenoid problem (1st, 3rd, and 4th Gear)
P093 Traction Control Signals were not received by PCM
T073 PCM - EBTCM/EBCM Pulse Width Modulation Signal Fault

The warning light for TRACTION DISABLED is on.

Both the local dealer and transmission shop want $1200-1500 to pull the trans and replace the shift solenoid. As I have read on the forums, the solenoid is accessible through the pan...no removal needed. I don't trust either shop, but I am in a small town. There are no junk yards with reliable Caddy parts.

What do you think I should attempt first? Is it possible that the PCM is sending bad signals to the transmission? It seems the other two codes are directly related. Would they cause the TRACTION DISABLED light to activate?

    Any insight is greatly appreciated.
    THANKS!

Has ur trans shop ever done a 4t80e trans? They are yanking ur chain if they say trans needs to come out to change shift solenoids. I bet they are giving u the old line that there are many other parts that are worn and it needs overhaul. Ask them. Shift solenoids only? What's the charge for that?

You are exactly correct! I will probably do it myself. I have to order parts. My biggest concern has been that a number of people on this forum have done them only to have the same codes pop up again. After reading some more last night, it sounds like the codes comeback because they missed a step. I can do it, I just have to wait until it is warm enough outside. Our maximum speed limit in town is 30 MPH so I think I am ok to wait a bit longer.

    WOW! Stick 'em up.

I would not use junk yard shift solenoids. Get them from http://www.rockauto.com
