you didn't say whether you are going 1 mile or thousands of miles -
I can think of a lot of reasons why NOT to - but - even if you could -
you would be better off using a CAR DOLLY - like this -
you can rent one from U-Haul -

Sorry, thousands of miles for sure. I've been flat towing a Cherokee, it doesn't require any modifications to be flat towed. Buying a car dolly might be my only option, but I hate having that extra peice of hardware to deal with on my camp site.

Now there's a picture of gas burning excess. A big old motor home pulling a cadillac. A motor home with caddy/towbar takes up same space as the caddy on a tow dolly. Maybe u go to a rv park for awhile and prefer to not have to walk around tow dolly when ur using caddy? But, a tow dolly is pretty slick for 1000 mile pulls. U will always be able to sell it when ur done with it.

NO YOU CANT WITHOUT DAMAGE TO THE AUTO TRANSMISSION You must use a car dolly You cannot tow because of inadequit lubrication for the tranny..

"NO YOU CANT WITHOUT DAMAGE TO THE AUTO TRANSMISSION" - Actually that may be an incorrect statement. If my DeVille has nothing more than a standard 4T60-E transaxle, then its very doable with a Remco Lube Pump.

"Now there's a picture of gas burning excess. A big old motor home pulling a cadillac." Now vision a big old gas guzzeling 1970 Winnebago pulling a Cadillac! Still the Cadillac is lighter than my Cherokee.

"a tow dolly is pretty slick for 1000 mile pulls" Makes sense to me! And Remco wants almost 1000 dollars for the pump kit, I can buy a dolly for that. I may have to start learning about dollys.

Personally I wouldn't chance it. I'd use the dolly. You should be able to rent one pretty cheap.

Get the tow dolly, they're not that hard to use and would be better than a tow-bar because they pivot under the front axle rather than just force it to turn against strait tires. The Lube-pump would be one more piece of hardware on the Cadillac that you don't want to have to deal with, esp if it failed you. KISS. Maintenance on a tow dolly would be trailer lights and wheel bearings, easily serviced. And with a hitch on the car you can transport the dolly without the RV if needed.

You guys have talked me into it, I'm going to do some research on car dollies and purchase one. I've flat towed a lot of vehicles, and never used a dolly, so this is a new experience for me.

Master Tow makes a good one, owned and used several. Keep it locked up but good, they seem to grow feet and walk off...

Re: Can I flat tow a 92 DeVille behind my rv?

Thanks for the info as I've been looking at a new Master Tow new with brakes just shy of $1200. No brakes they are a lot cheaper, but some of the states I travel through require brakes.

Just in case someone else is looking to tow and doesn't want to go the tow dolly route, the lube pump kit from Remco is LP-BK01-007 and it retails for $950.00.
