P0741. If the valve body had a blockage would a transmission flush help at all ? Might be an easy fix . If not is there a way to test the TCC selenoid ?

when the P0741 code shows by itself the problem is leaking torque converter seals -

here is a link that describes in great detail - including pics -
the problem that causes the code -

bottom line - the ONLY way to fix this is to drop the trans -
and replace the torque converter and the bad seals -

    Welcome to the P0741 club.

    P.S.
I edited your title to be a bit more descriptive.

    Re: 03 Deville

Never flush a transmission. Usually they do more harm than good, in my opinion. I have an 01 Deville that throws the P0741 code about every other month, it's been doing it for going on 4 years. Some cars leak by just enough to only cause the code randomly. Better off living with it. Interesting note, that same car did lock in the 741 code along with the 1860 when the TCC solenoid failed. I changed the solenoid and cleared the 1860 and it went back to giving the 741 every other month again.

Yes: DO NOT FLUSH A TRANSMISSION, EVER, FOR ANY REASON!

Besides the fact that it can potentially damage the transmission, it will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to fix the problem. Re read post #2. The cause is a leaking seal in the torque converter. Replacement is the ONLY solution.

just out of curiosity - WHO gave you this MISINFORMATION?

what are this person's "claimed" qualifications -

frankly - that person knows nothing about the problem -
knows nothing about automatic transmissions -
and knows even less about Cadillacs -

    -----------------

did you read through the link I supplied?

what part of the information in the link didn't convince you?

Go to the Technical Archives (top left of this page in the black bar) and read up on transmission flushing. Flushing is for toilets.
