I have a 95 Cadillac Deville and my rear air shocks are not working. The compressoer is not comeing on and I believe so I understand its by the back axle in from of the muffle.I was looking at it today.I was wondering if there is a fuse for the shocks and if so where is it located so I can check that first
Thanks Olin
ELC for you - Electronic level Control. Not sure whether the 1995 has a rear underseat fuse box - check your owner's manual or download one from the sticky posts just above ^^^.
The compressors rot out and fail from ingestion of water and moisture caused by the compression process.
-------------------------------
the Electronic Level Control fuse is in the rear - trunk - fuse block -
labeled ELC - as illustrated on page 6-67 of your Owners manual -
If your fuse isn't blown, and your car is at all similar to mine, there would be a height sensor which is a little arm/bar connected from the sensor to shock absorber by a link. If the link is missing or broken you might have my problem. That's the next thing I would check for, because it's pretty visual. But as in my case, that may only be a symptom and not a solution.
Check out this site: http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/catalog/frameset.cfm where they have some good exploded diagrams and part names. That should help identify what you're looking at down there. I'll be watching this thread with interest!
