Listen to each injector with a stethoscope. You should hear the same rhythmic ticking from each injector.

Installed a new FPR - another PITA, since the hold-down bolt can be accessed only from the bottom, so the rear rai needs disconnecting. However, I have a question:

There's a 1/16" hard plastic vacuum line coming from the top of the EGR valve. We can't find an attaching point for it. Where does that go?

That should go to the EGR Solenoid. You might have to just connect a vacuum hose from the bottom of the solenoid to the vacuum port on the EGR valve. Those rubber elbows etc. fall apart on the ends of the plastic tubes.

    Thanks.
It's all together now except for the fitting where the fuel rails join and are held in place by a plate and a torx-head bolt. To get the assembly to fit right, we have to loosen everything, I suppose - join those tubes, then tighten it all. Tomorrow.

The two fuel rails join with o-rings. We incautiously damaged one of them, so had to REMOVE the front rail and blow it out. Some time earlier in this saga we replaced the injectors without shifting the PS pump out of the way, but for some reason couldn't get it this afternoon so that's tomorrow morning's job.
    One thing after another...

We loosened the serpentine belt and the PS pump - made things much easier.

The supplied O-rings for that junction (between the fuel rails) were too small -- leaky. We will loosen everything, then try again. Presumably the correct O-rings are the same diameter and thickness as those on the injectors, and we have spares.

    Or are they different?
