99 Deville, mice in the heat vents...
This car is quite the project... 70,000 miles, rust free Ontario car, Galaxy silver (?), engine is back in and runs beautiful! (studs)
I had no idea what other work it was going to need... pretty much replaced everything underneath. I've done a few STS's with much higher miles that did not need nearly this much work.
Anyhow, i have a heating issue. Ive tested as many different ways to blow air as i can think of to try and narrow it down. Ive looked at the diagrams, but i dont know what door is for what, so here goes:
Heat on max, air comes out the bottom but it is very weak. Can hardly feel any hot air blowing. If i turn it down far enough to make it switch to the upper vents, and i leave the passenger side to hot, it blows hot air out the two passenger vents and cold air out the 2 drivers side vents, air blows hard out all 4 vents. Set to defrost, again it is weak, hardly any air comes out of the dash vent, and not very hot.
I have history codes, but dont know which are relevant? Im assuming they will be the ACM codes. I do hear clicking when the doors try to move. Not a steady click click clik click, but a click, a 2 second pause, 2 clicks, 1 second pause, a click, and so on, kind of random.
Oh and the first time i turned it on, the dash vents blew hard and it blue little peices of dark foam all over the place...all over the seats. made me think of a mouse nest :P
I dont have any Deville parts laying around, but i have a pair of 97 sevilles that all this stuff works in both cars. Would the parts be the same?
Also, drivers seat heater does not work. First the relay wasnt clicking, i changed it and now it clicks, but still no heat. Passenger is fine.
Will post codes soon as wife gets back from dropping the kids off

Re: 99 Deville, mice in the heat vents...
sounds to me that the MODE DOOR actuator is stripped -
that clicking sound is from the broken plastic gear teeth -
