What's the battery voltage with the engine off? Preferably after being off for at least 30 minutes.

It sounds like a bad battery. Have it charged and load tested, replace if necessary.

Time for a new battery. Especially if it was low and the plates where exposed.

Diehards will never steer you wrong. My Dad's had them, and the one that gave him fits was a bad unit, and that one even took an Escalade-full of kids watching a DVD for 20 minutes to discover that.

The one I have never fails to crank Alexandra up

Check the cables for white powder loosen and move the bolts on the battery cable connections. Dont know how old the battery is but you cant go wrong with Moist advice. Mike

Re: dead battery and will stay running

You must have either a VERY old automotive battery or a marine deep cycle piece. ??? Added water ???

In any case, it sounds as if the battery is past its useful life OR the alternator/regulator is not charging the battery. Does your car have the capability to display battery voltage in the instrument panel, and if it does, what is the battery voltage at rest, key:ON, and fast idle ??? Otherwise, do the same voltage checks with a VOM set to DC voltage, connected to the positive and negative battery terminals/main feed connectors.

I combined your threads in order to keep all the battery/voltage problems iun one place.
