    1994 Deville tranny...what possible causes?

What is a best guess what is the cause of this?

    http://boise.craigslist.org/cto/3245177100.html

Thinking about looking and if the car looks good overall, offering them $450 and see what it is all about

    Thoughts?

Low trans fluid, fluid could need changing, internal transmission issues. Could be in limp mode....

I personally can't stand transmission issues. I'm on the tail end of a trans swap in my 00 deville. I should have followed my first instinct and swapped the trans when I saw the "service transmission" message on the driver info center. Nope, fixed to some degree, only to have a 800-1200 third clutch housing axle shaft leak.

I pray that this unit is good, but unless you like slinging 400+ pounds of front wheel drive transmission around without the proper tools to do the job, stay away from that one unless you have someone to replace it cheap.
