Power steering flush on 03 DTS

    Hey all,

I'm not sure if this has been touched or not. Tried looking around, couldn't find anything. I flushed the old fluid out. Now I need to purge the air out. I've been told just turn the wheels back and forth (full left and right) it'll get out. However. Should this be done with the cap on or off? Theory tells me with cap off to release the air pressure in the system.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

it really doesn't matter because the reservoir is not pressurized -

you are trying to get the small air bubbles stuck in the rack out -
by SLOWLY turning the steering wheel lock-to-lock you are purging out the air -

if you turn the wheel too quickly - you will create micro-bubbles -
and it will take a few days to get them all out -

Make the system easy to "steer" while you're doing the lock-to-lock: Cut 4 large squares of cardboard, stack 2 and 2 and drive the car front wheels onto them. Makes the wheels/tires MUCH easier to turn.

I let the car roll slowly in a big open parking lot to take the force off the tires in a full stop. Seems to help. I'll do it a couple more times though. Had to pick up the woman, so wasn't able to spend too much time doing it.
