Question regarding replacing water pump on 96 DeVillle 4.6L

Going to replace the water pump on my 96 Deville 4.6L............I am aware of the new O ring that has to be replaced. Should that O ring be lubricated with Lithium grease?
Also, The Haynes Manual (for what it's worth) makes no mention of a gasket. Some of the auto parts sites show a gasket included and some don't. If a gasket is supplied, what
kind of adhesive should I use and do I apply this adhesive to both sides of the gasket. I already have the special GM tool to remove the pump. Thanks for any help with this
    fix.

    Hi neighbor

You can use a little grease or petrolium jelly to hold the O ring in place if you need to. Otherwise no lube or adhesive is required on it or the cover gasket.
