1991 Deville no coolant in oil, but oil in coolant?

No coolant in the oil, but oil in the coolant and it runs a little rough? I'm guessing that this is a blown head gasket or cracked head (opinions?). But sadly, I'm not a mechanic. I love this car, everything works and it runs for like 15 minutes at a time without running hot. My question is, I only paid $900 for the car (I will also need to fix the suspension down the road). Is it worth the money to fix it or should I just resell it as-is? It only has 165000 original miles. I've heard that I could use "Blue Devil" as my commute is under 10 miles a day, but am fearful of a sealant. Even an expensive one.

    Any help is greatly appreciated

Oil in coolant tells me failed engine oil cooler in radiator tank on drivers side. Think of it this way, oil pressure is higher than coolant pressure. Problem is that coolant will eventually get in oil pan when the engine is shut off, then coolant pressure is higher than no oil pressure. I would make sure that is what your problem is before you dump $60.00 worth of blue devil in it, (I wouldn't even use that nasty stuff), and besides blue devil WILL NOT FIX YOUR PROBLEM with oil in the coolant.

Sounds like it might need a tuneup to fix the rough running issue, plugs, throttle body and EGR tubes in the intake manifold cleaned. What is wrong with the suspension? If it is the rear struts leaking air, those can be replaced for a reasonable amount. I bought some Monroe Sensatrac with the air bladder on the shock, they have a less expensive economy version also. Check out Amazon or rockauto.com several other places also.

Bad head gaskets results in exhaust gas in the coolant and/or coolant in the exhaust (cylinders). You could also get coolant in the oil, but not oil in the coolant.

I'm with Dennis. Side tank oil cooler. Replace the radiator.

    Blue Devil
