    1996 deville rear shocks

Looking to replace my rear shocks and there are a few different styles i know they have the air assist, but they are so rusty I can't find a part number. Was wondering if there was a way to use the vin, or the trunk tag to identify the right part.

There's also a Monroe air to standard shock conversion kit #90009 for about $120 that worked well for me.

I have a 97 D'elegance and I ordered the ACDelco 515-12 off eBay and they were the OEM rear air shocks.

if your air compressor still works -
you are much better off keeping the air shocks
rather than going with coil-over shocks -

the Monroe 40046 would be the proper air-shock for your car -
$106.10 each with free shipping - from -

I would like to keep it stock and the compressor still works. But I do have the electronic (fe1 I believe) suspension and those Monroe shocks don't look like they have the plug.

    Re: 1996 deville rear shocks

RippyPartsDept, Darrell here. I own a 99 DeVille D'Elegance. Wonderful, and beautiful car. I've only owned it for about a month now, and with the weather, haven't been able to get pixs posted. Anyway, I've spoken to the Caddi Dealer here to have my VIN run, to find out a number of thing about my Deville. I need a set of rear shocks first off. Might I ask you the same favor you were offering Crabgrass? Would you run my VIN? I'd be happy to pay via paypay. I've looked at the rear shocks and they look to be a simple air shock, Delco, nothing fancy about them. Having owned an 01 STS with CVRSS, I do know the difference.
I asked the dealership here if I gave them my VIN, if they would run and tell me what all features my D'Elegance was built with. I was told no. I've never been happy with the Caddy dealership here, but they are the only one here servicing Olds/Cadillac.
    Thanks much. D~

I saw and gave that site a try before. I gave it a try again just now. It reports my 99 as a 95. Back in 95, features didn't exist available as even standard on the 99. I do appreciate the suggestion nonetheless. Darrell~

sure ... the offer extends to anyone

just email me your VIN and I'll email you back some PDFs

    ...

one note - on cars older than 2000 there is a good chance that i can't pull up anything more than what compnine gets you (but it's worth a try)

    ----------

    SUPER LAC,

i'll need your email to send you the PDFs
(you forgot to add that to your PM)
