    Rear end dances over bumps

Hey guys, the rear of my 98 DeVille dances around over bumps. I know the shocks need to be replaced and probably all of the ball joints and tie rod ends. Is there more I should look at replacing? I don't like the idea of replacing the A-Arm pivot bushings, but I think that might be the culprit. Any advice?

    Thanks,

    John

Re: Rear end dances over bumps

the shocks dampen (or absorb) the oscillation of the springs ... if you are getting more than 3-4 oscillations then your shocks are worn

other parts replace upon visual inspection

Im certain the shocks need to be replaced, I think it's more that something in the alignment changes. The rear of the car seems to go to the left.

there are too many maybe's - and could be's -

the ONLY way to be sure - get the car up on a hoist -
and have the rear end carefully inspected -

^^^ That. Look on BOTH ends of the control arm. Keep in mind that he cross axis ball joints in the knuckle where the control arms attach are a problem area on these k-bodies. There are probably lots of threads on this if you find that these are your problem.

Re: Rear end dances over bumps

I think it's probably the A arm bushings and ball joints (and shock absorbers) causing my problems. I was hoping to get some definitive experience here before I dump a trunk full of money into the car. It's a big trunk, right?
