if you have the F55 Magneride suspension (half of the 2002 STSs have it) then you will not be able to do any of the stuff mentioned in here

if you have the F45 CVRSS suspensio then you will

Re: 2002 Deville DTS rear shocks $$$

Just remember - in these cars (the later Deville line to 2005) there basically are 2 suspensions, depending on dealer option package or buyer-ordered option: The passive plain-Jane suspension and the active CVRSS. The DTS line had CVRSS as stock. Seville also went the same way with the SLS and STS, BUT the 2002.5 and 2003 STS was the only Cadillac to get F55 Magnetic Ride Control until the later yupscale models began offering it. You cannot retrofit F55 to any of the models that didn't have it originally.

If you are antsy over which suspension/spring package is installed, enter the VIN into www.compnine.com and decipher the RPO codes from that site or the sticker under the spare tire cover.

Actually 2/5 of the 11,440 2002 STS had the F55 suspension system - 4528 to be exact If someone's 2002 STS has a build date of 01/15/02 or later it is a F55 car.

Radio shack should have it. I put the resistor in it with some extra to cover the crimps. Heated it carefully. Then wrapped the whole plug in electrical tape (thick). I've been through downpours with no issues.

Use an adhesive lined heat shrink if you can find it. It contains a glue lining that will provide a water tight seal when properly shrunk.

Re: 2002 DTS rear shocks $$$

OK I finally put the shocks & resistors in.
NO ERROR CODE ON THE DASH

Now everytime I go over any bump, pebble, etc the shocks squeak. I can hear them squeaking/working from inside of the car thru the trunk opening to the inside of the car.

Also it seems like the car is not lifting up any more than when I had the old, worn out shocks in there.

    Any suggestions?
Is there anyway to lift the ride height in the back a 1/2-3/4 of an inch?

New shocks will not lift the rear end any more than old 200,000 mile shocks unless the old ones had a leak in the pneumatic system.

The only way to change the height is to modify both sensor links (#13 - F45 suspension) somehow. #17 is the link (only 1) for the Deville/DHS (EXCEPT F45) I don't believe it is adjustable. IF it is, lengthening them should raise the rear end.
