Say no more. Undo that installation and see if there is a difference.

Browse through some of another forums and you will find many horror stories of erratic electrical system functions following the attempted installation of aftermarket electronics.

And it's not clear to me what possible PARK brake function was bypassed(?).

The stock head unit is (was) part of the serial data bus, and anti theft system. You need to use the correct integration harness/module if you install an after market HU.

Re: 04 Cadillac DTS intermittent electrical issues

I bought a Metra GMOS 06 wiring harness, definitely made for the correct make/model, and I've installed this on a few other early to mid 2000's Devilles without any problems.
Assuming that the mechanics don't find anything, and it turns out that it IS indeed the stereo causing the problem, my next step was to swap the head unit back out with the factory one (crap) temporarily just to see if the symptoms reappear.
What is it that's causing the problem: the harness/module, the wiring (or the relay, which I would think is unlikely), or the actually unit itself?
I am a serious audiophile, with over 10 years experience both as a hobbyist and a professional installer and needless to say I NEED to have better sound and source flexibility than what is provided with the factory unit. With that being said, can anybody recommend a high-end double DIN unit and/or a wiring harness that have a high success rate in these Caddy's with Bose and Onstar? I have searched and searched and I can't find another wiring harness that says it's compatible with these options.

Yup, that's the right harness. You could inquire in the audio/video/security forum about a HU, but I suspect your problem is elsewhere.

Re: 04 Cadillac DTS intermittent electrical issues

    Hey guys,
First of all, I would like to thank all of you for taking the time to help me. Despite being a new member, I have used this forum as a research tool for years, as I have been a proud Cadillac owner and enthusiast since 2004. This has to be the best automotive forum I've ever browsed.
Second, I would like to share that I believe that after months and months of poking around and asking for advice, (and finding other problems in the process), doing my best to diagnose/repair the issue myself, and finally taking my Caddy to the dealer , I BELIEVE I MAY HAVE FINALLY FIGURED OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS!!
I did a very poor job of explaining just what was occurring, and it was so intermittent that it would be very difficult for any mechanic to actually see it occur. However, I stumbled across the thread below and it nailed it 100%. It took me an hour or less to clean the two parts, and I am now idling smoother than the day I bought the car, and right at 700 RPM. I wanted to share this in case anyone ever stumbles across this thread and has had the same trouble I did.

Once again, I thank you all for your help!!

Re: 04 Cadillac DTS intermittent electrical issues

Hey, that's a great link. I had cleaned my TB when I first got my DeVille (this past December), but I totally neglected the IAC. The IAC will now get a little TLC!!!

    Thanks
