    Need some opinions: 1990 fleetwood

I just looked at a 1990 Fleetwood with 166K on it. It is clean. Pulled the carpet in the trunk it is perfect no reconstruction all factory welds dry as a bone! Two small patches of surface rust, the bottoms of the doors are fine. The engine conpartment was clean, new radiator. The electrics all seemed to work. I think it is a 60 special it has the roadster pkg and the slate grey paint. Interior leather is in great shape, some creasing in the front seats. Road test: acceleration very strong and the tranny shifting was smooth and braking worked well. Any quirks I should know about, potential weak systems? I haven't run any codes yet. Typical story little old guy one owner. Seller has ties to Caddy dealership so he must have picked it up there. He wants $2100. It will be my son's first car. Thanks for your time.

Definately run codes and knock him down to $1700 or so. See how he reacts.

Did you look under the car? Condition of exhaust system (costly) Maybe ask him if you can have it looked over by a competant mechanic (he can tag along) but if he refuses, I might be leary.

Roadster package? If it is a 60 Special it should say it somewhere and it'll have those strage seats with all the adjustments.

If the front seats have POWER operated headrests and a sea of buttons on the seast sides then it's a Sixty Special, otherwise NO. They are very good cars. The problem areas are suspension and exhaust. Of course, you must realize that at 166,000 miles on it - just about anything can go wrong. Check the A/C and the Pwr. Windows/seats and all. Be careful.
NEVER knock another man's car for the reason of getting the price down. It's like insulting his wife! Tell him $1,700 or whatever is all you can afford, and it's the best you can offer him.
Seems to me that I recall if you go to Google and enter Sixty Special Interior and click images that there are a couple photos....I could be wrong, but I seem to recall that.
