    when my car is at idle it makes a woodpeeker noise then it stops ,few minutes later it startes back ,an it keeps doing it. what is going on with 94 sedan deville

    With engine off try to turn the alternator (belt on) or anything on the serpentine belt. If it moves much at all, check the harmonic balancer. The 3800 V6's fail the rubber ring from the belt to the hub and it rattles like crazy. It will add harmonics to the crank, but I had to drive mine (3800) over 380 miles till I figured out what it was. It didn't hurt it, but sure is embarrassing to drive!
