2002 Deville Hesitation and Speedometer Problem

A week ago I purchased a 02 Deville with just over 100K, and this morning the speedometer starting acting erratic and the car began to hesitate. I was going about 55 MPH and the speedometer was going up and down, quickly, from 45 - 70. Then while going about 25 - 30 MPH the car started hesitating like it didn't know what gear to go in and the speedometer would go to 0 MPH. Anyone have any idea what could cause this issue?

I am new to the discussion board, and this is my first post! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...

    Thanks

Go to the top of the Deville board and find the sticky "how to pull codes" and post the codes and the definitions back to this thread. This can be done thru the instrument panel of your Deville with no test equipment.

Neither of those two codes have anything to do with your problem. No clue what the others mean unless you post them.

U1016 HISTORY Loss of Communications with PCM is a possibility. Hard to say for sure. Battery voltage OK?

Battery voltage stays right at 14.6.

We have had a tremendous amount of rain the last few days, and it was raining when it happened. I had gone threw a few good size puddles as well.

14.6 is not the battery voltage... it's what the alternator is putting out. To check the battery voltage you will need to check it with the key on engine off. Driving thru deep water is what kills the early design of air pumps (P0410 code) the redesigned pump air intake has a snorkel on it to avoid ingesting water.

You have a bad engine ground to the frame, probably caused by a bad motor mount. Wire goes from right in front of the alternator to wheel well right in front of fuse box under hood.
