    Extended Warranty

Just bought a 2000 DTS with 27,850 miles on it. One owner, 70+ old gentleman. Obviously the 4 year bumper to bumper warranty expires very shortly.

Any recommendations on who to go with for an extended warranty? I am looking for perhaps a 4 year extension and maybe a 48,000 mile extension.

    Thanks!

    Re: Extended Warranty

I would recommend one through the dealer... You should still be able to get a factory warranty to 100k...

    Re: Extended Warranty

A family member has a two-year-old DTS with about 15,000 miles on it and wants to get an extended warranty. He is confused by how it works; some dealers tell him they can add miles, others tell him they can add years; some dealers say it is from time of the car's purchase, others say the warranty dates from the time of the warranty's purchase.

Can someone clear up how GM extended warranties work? How about dealers for a well-priced warranty? What are the prices people have gotten?

    Thanks.

    Re: Extended Warranty

THe thing is that a lot of the warranty companies are going downhill..... The reasons you want to get through the dealership (ironically somthing I DID NOT recommend a year ago) is even if the warrnaty company goes bad, the dealer still has to recognize it..

Most times the dealer will make ammends to the GM factory warranty if your still under warranty... Meaning its best for him to do it asap that wait until later...
