    Question 92 deville stick shift?

    hey everybody, i just got my first car, and it's a 92 deville, and something that i've been wondering, but havent been able to find much about is if i'd be able to put a standard transmission in it.. if anyone could help me out that'd be great

    the fiero guys do it all the time with the 4.9...in a fiero body. there is a 5-speed that is basically a direct bolt on. however, you will need a custom flywheel/clutch. also, starter location will be a problem: the 4.9 starter is just too large for it to fit readily into the bell housing. and i would guess there would be a lot of custom work needed to make it fit in the deville body. don't forget about finding a set of axels that will work too. in short, it is doable, just wont be cheap.

    Its possible, but not feasible. None of the transmissions that would fit would last very long. People who swap this motor into Fieros have trouble making the manual trannys last, and last I checked, a Fiero was a tad lighter than a Deville. If you could somehow stregenthen one of those trannys, it might make more sense, but that can get into expensive custom work

    aright, thanks guys, i just wanted to see if it was possible... unfortunatley expensive=impossible for me at this time because of the damned insurance on the thing... thanks again

    well i dont really care about resale value, i plan on holding on to my girl until she dies on me
