Well aside from the technical stuff the '97 is old style class and rides much like the previous Devilles. A very comfortable ride and fairly easy to drive around. Yes kinda feels like a large sofa with wheels-but classy. On the other hand the DHS is more like a-well i guess I don't really know. I drove it and I know it's a Cadillac but it drives more like a (forgive me here) BMW 530 I used to own. I fell in love with this car almost immediately. The car is comfy yet and elegant, but at the same time it seems to demand respect. All of the power options may take time to master but I like the guage package the best. It looks like a red and white light show when it first starts up and the guages are great at night as well. I have very simular fuel milages between the two cars about 16-18 city and 22-26 hwy. The DHS doesn't require premium fuel like the '97 so that is a plus too. Both cars are rated at 275hp which is enough for my driving. One other thing that may be of interest, you can change the interior cabin air filter under the hood at the cowl in about 1 minute. The DHS will be greatly enjoyed-hope this helps.

The RWD people pissed him off.

Nice DHS! I want one, too! (if I can't find a '95-'96 Fleetwood with low miles)

Hey Zippy, sorry I didn't find this until now. Nice choice, the DHS that is! I tried to talk my dad into the DHS because of the slightly smoother ride, but no go, he had to have all the bells and whistles, as well as a firmer ride that I think he regrets a little! Now if only you could get the infamous hood ornament on new Caddies other than the Base model.

if you were gonna go as far as getting a new car and all that, why not just go all the way and get the DTS?

Night Wolf, the DHS has the smooth ride, and every option but: sunroof-
a no headroom device- and the console-takes away from my front seat action. The mrs. likes to set next to me on long trips. I rode in a DTS and it was not as nice of riding car as the DHS. IMO

I haven't driven either car yet, but I don't see the DHS as being a step down from anything, either.

The DTS offers the performance and handling to better compete with European and Japanese luxury, and the DHS offers the more traditional, soft luxury that people have come to expect from Cadillac.

I thought you could get a sunroof in a DHS?

And I agree--I'm sick of consoles, they eat up leg space, and I like to spread out on a long trip.
