91 Deville Water Pump

I am replacing the water pump on my 1991 deville and it seems that there is a screw that needs to go in place underneath (below) the spindle and it was treachorous taking the old pump off.

Any tips on how to get that screw in easier. It's a 10mm bolt/screw.

Any tips at all for installing the new one would be great. Thank you!

Also, the air conditioner was unhooked when I bought the vehicle. If I keep the serpentine belt the way it is factory and not buying a smaller one to bypass the a/c compressor will it effect the new water pump? I don't think it will I was just wondering.
