Which era of deville do you prefer?

Remove this ad
Considering a 93 or 95 deville. Both have the 4.9 liter. The 93 has 75k on it and the 95 has 85k so both fairly comparable. I can get the 93 for 2k and the 95 for around 2.5k Just looking for some pros and cons on each. Any big differences? Any info appreciated.

Re: Which era of deville do you prefer?

I like the '93 better, but I'm very biased lol. The '93 is around 500lbs lighter making it quicker 0-60. (a '93 with Touring Sedan gears will beat even a N* powered '95 to 60) Fuel economy is around the same, because even though the '95 is heavier it has a lower coefficient of drag. '95 has four wheel disc brakes, while the '93 is front disc, rear drum. '95 also has other little niceties, such as traction control, a quieter engine, dual airbags, etc.

It's personal preference really. Neither is drastically different, for better or for worse, from the other.

Re: Which era of deville do you prefer?

I have never warmed up to the styling of the 94-96 Devilles. I would say it's personal preference.

Re: Which era of deville do you prefer?

I have a 95 and have little complaints about it. But I'd go for the 4.9L with less mileage if everything else is in order.

Re: Which era of deville do you prefer?

Go for the '95. I miss mine dearly, it was the best car I ever owned. The '95 makes much less wind noise on the highway and it rides a little softer.

Re: Which era of deville do you prefer?

The 95 has a nicer interior and door panels that don't fall apart. They also drive better. Anything else comes down to looks. So just get whatever one you like the best.

The door panels don't fall apart, the vinyl on the arms just cracks

I think the 93 actually rides softer, but its also bouncier.

Re: Which era of deville do you prefer?

I like the way the '93 looks more...the classic hard-edged styling, the full tail lights (on the 94-96, they don't go lower than the bumper), and the open rear wheel wells. The '95 looks more whalish and rounded, but it's got a much more modern interior (the '93's interior was designed for '85) and it's quieter inside.

Your pick is as good as mine.

Re: Which era of deville do you prefer?

95 Deville doesn't have Northstar unless it's a Concours. Only 1996 and newer Devilles have it.
