The pump is still in there extremely tight. Does anybody know how I can get around this and still remove the pump? The car is a 1995 Deville Concours northstar 4.6 . |

If the pump is torn up you are in for a fight. Like ranger said, if you can get an impact on it and keep pressure in and zap it, be sure to set the impact to TIGHTEN.
If it is a cheap socket, that might be most of your problem. The good ones have nice teeth on them that really bite into the edges of the pump.

The required torque is 74 ft/lb. and you need a helper to hold the socket in engagement with the capsule tangs. It takes about 1/4 turn to unlock and lock. Remember the exact orientation of the tangs. |

I got my best 1/2 in impact gun on it today and it is able to grip onto it, but cant budge it. Im thinking of spraying some PB blaster on it may help break it loose?? I need this car back together and running by tonite. |

Maybe, just maybe, a hydraulic hose/parts/commercial repair shop. |

If the latter, but a little grease on it to hold it in place. |

| | Cadillac Owners Member Cadillac(s): 1995 deville concours | | | | | Re: Water pump removal problem I went to the local Napa store to check what they had. Parts guy opened a water pump kit for my car to compare the 2 Orings. Dealership Oring was noticably bigger. I bought Napa's Oring for 3$ and headed home. It fit great so I used that one. I got everything bolted back together and full of coolant mix, started it, checked for leaks, and went on about 20 mile drive. Got home and nothing is leaking. Topped the coolant off. I will recheck for leaks after driving it tomorrow. Thanks to everyone who helped me out here | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
