Questions re: PS pressure hose replacement

Anyone got a minute to advise me on some of the smaller details of a power steering pressure hose replacement on my '00 DTS? I've always wrenched on my own cars, none, however, being newer than '85. My Cadillacs on the other hand have always gone to the dealer. Until today, that is.

Anyway, to make a long story short, after reading various posts here I acquired some motivation and decided to do it myself. Now at the risk of sounding like someone who has never picked up a wrench, my experience so far has not resembled any post that I have read here so far. I don't mind saying that that thing was a bitch to get out. For a half a second I wanted to call a towtruck to take the car to the dealer (mostly out of frustration when the hose was stuck), but regained my composure upon thinking of all you guys who have had no trouble doing it.

Well I finally got the thing out and all the while I was wondering how I'm going to get the new one in. So that's my first question. I ended up removing it from the bottom of the car, although that didn't seem any easier than removing it from the top. What's the easiest way to get the new one back in, from the top or bottom? And are there any other tips I should know to help the process along from beginning to end?

I'm going to pick up the new hose shortly and there are apparently 2 different ones to choose from. Is one better than the other? I've read the post about one of the hoses being an updated version. Does updated mean "better".

I know it's a simple repair (and I'm almost embarassed asking about it) and I'd appreciate any input. Thanks
