they fixed everything.....so they say.....and i will see

as far as my shakes, the head mechanic told em they swapped out 2 rims and now the car doesnt shake between 60-80mph. when i get the car i will post back if this is indeed true.
well come to find out i will NOT be getting the caddy back today.
when the caddy dealer took the car out for the final test drive, they noticed some sound from the right front tire.
come to find out they are putting a new RIGHT FRONT STRUT BEARING & SEAT....whatever the heck that is

so monday = when the caddy returns to me.
i told him 'as long as everything is fixed, i dont mind waiting a few more days'

That latch can probably be repaired. If you have the console with shifter, I might know someone interested if it is the right color.

Re: 02 DTS shakes around 60mph to 75mph

In regard to the posts on "centering rings", the majority of this series of Cadillac OEM wheels center on the machined wheel bore and hub spigot, not on the bolt circle. Most aftermarket generic wheels rely on only the bolt circle to center the wheel. If the aftermarket wheel does not have the Cadillac 115mm bolt circle, but has the more common 114.3mm circle, it usually winds up a tad off center because the first lug nut to get tightened pulls the wheel onto that stud first, then the other studs bend to accommodate the induced misalignment, with the attendant out-of-round wheel tramp. Centering rings align the wheel on the hub spigot and force all the studs to bend into alignment with the (improper) 114.3mm bolt circle.

Look at the center of this 2003 CTS wheel and you can see the hub bore. (Not the center cap bore - the larger inner bore.) (I picked up a set of 4 for $100 - they're mounted with my late night rural road screamer tires.)

Re: 02 DTS shakes around 60mph to 75mph

You might try to PM ld00deville. I think he may be looking for a console. Not sure what color he needs though. He hasn't been here since 7/29 so I'm not sure if or when he will respond, but might be worth a try. Might work out for both of you.

Re: 02 DTS shakes around 60mph to 75mph

i finally got the caddy back!!!!

the shakes are gone!!!
they replaced TWO rims with stock vehicle rims (same dts model & rim) as (per the report) the rims were 'out of round'
they also rebalanced all 4 tires

as far as the car shaking the head bolts were leaking so they replaced those and the entire head gasket......no more startup shaking
they also replaced all the engine mounts in this process

i cant believe the shimmy/vibration is gone......like i said 2 new rims did the job....i still have the same tires.
i take the highway there and back and i had the caddy everywhere from 50mph in traffic to 105mph in the open and NO SHIMMY/VIBRATION!!!!

the only thing i still notice is the car shifts kinda ;hard; from 1st to 2nd at low rpm's yet every other shift or a high 1st to 2nd shift is flawless.
any suggestions there?

i have the report here from the caddy dealer if anyone wants me to scan it to use for your future reference (ill edit out all my personal info of course )
