99 deville hard time hitting 2nd or 3rd then stalled?

I drive a 99 Deville, and for the past month it's been having a hard time hitting either 2nd or 3rd. It will sometimes over rev a bit then go in or go into the gear but when i put the gas down it doesn't speed up, i have to let off then hit it.
Then tonight i drove to a place about 45 minutes away, on the way back i got into town and it stalled when i was doing about 50km/h. Oil light came on but i did oil change few weeks ago and its got the right amount still, then all the lights came on. Also when it stalled couldn't brake, power steering went out and couldn't gas. Once stopped i turned it off then back on and it started up ok.

Could someone please tell me whats wrong? And estimate the cost to fix? Any info would greatly be appriciated. Thank you in advance.

It's a 99 Deville (automatic), with almost 219,000 km.

That is normal when the engine is off.

Start by pulling the DTC's. See the sticky above.

I have a similar throttle problem with my 77 deville. I noticed under the hood that the spring that connects to the throttle cable is very stretched out, you might want to check that because it's caused me similar symptoms

I can tell you exactly what's wrong with her. It's an elderly thing. I know just how she feels. It was tired and cranky. After a brief nap, it was okay again.

Seriously, whatever you do don't flush the transmission. See numerous posts how that will cause the death of the trans. Unless, it's already too late. Check the OBD for codes.

i will have to check that in a few. Also will be doing the OBD. Hopefully it's something small like that, that is causing this.

Thank you for the heads up, i havent flushed the transmission. But will check the OBD in a minute, and post results. I went for a ride to the mall today and it some-what stalled on me. . all my lights came on, power steering went out but could still gas a bit and brake? Anyways, i will post codes when i find them

Ok so i ran the scan and got this -

Current - P0440 - Which is gas cap (had the check gas cap message since last summer, i got a new gas cap and didn't fix the problem)

then past -

P0101 - Mass Air Flow
P0663 - Gas cap again i think
P1509 - Idle Speed High - Idle air control (IAC) system not responding
P1599 - Engine stall - or near stall detected
&
U1000 - Class 2 communication Malfunction

Also, my oil light was on. I dont understand why, my oil is filled and also did oil change like a month ago?
Please help

Oil light is oil pressure, not quantity.

It could be the oil pressure switch unless the engine stalled, then the oil light will come on as well.

Im sorry to keep going on and on, but im trying to narrow it down to whats wrong.
When i turn the ignition on, the oil light comes on. When car is started fully and running it isn't. But when it stalled on me, that's when it came on also.

After driving i smell like a burning coolant smell, but the engine runs at around 92 degrees C. sometimes goes to 102.

Normal. The oil light (As well as all the others) comes on as a test when the ignition is turned on before cranking and goes off after start up. If the engine stalls it will come on again because there is no longer any oil pressure (engine off, ignition on).

If you smell coolant, you have a leak.

In general, a bad MAF (mass air flow) sensor can cause severe engine performance problems when they go bad. Thing like low power and bucking/kicking/stalling. On some engines (not sure about Northstar), if you disconnect the MAF from the computer, the engine will fall back to a default limp mode which is sufficient to test and get an idea if the real culprit could be the MAF. I would try that and see what happens.
