    1985 Deville won't idle

I am getting ready to purchase a 1985 Deville for $250, and it runs, but won't stay idling. The owner says that after 5 or 7 seconds of running, the car just dies, unless you stay on the gas or use the choke (aren't these cars fuel injected?). The owner says this car has the 4.3 V8, but I thought they had 4.1's and the later ones had 4.5's. Anyways, the owner thinks it is the TPS sensor and doesn't want to mess with it. Does any one have any ideas as to what could be wrong or what I should check for. I looked at a 90 Deville awhile ago that wouldn't idle until warm do to a screw missing out of its cold start valve thing towards the front of the engine, I'm hoping that is what it is, but this is a different engine so I don't know.

if its fuel injected then the injectors might me dirty. also check the fuel injection sensor. another thing you could check is the battery and/or the altenator. a friend of mine had a similar problem with his. if its not any of these things then ask the dealership they'd know.
