What size rims to get for a 1995 DeVille?

I searched and searched, but I found a lot of useless answers while going through several threads!

I am thinking about putting 20inch rims on the 95 DeVille, so I am looking for someone to point me into the right direction on the size tires and rims. I'm all up for suggestions too on what would look good. Thanks

Here's a pic of the lac currently, post some rims and i'll photoshop them onto it.

Nice looking Deville! Before you put 20" rims on i hope you realize wheels that big will throw off your speedometer/odometer accuracy for sure.Probably will have to put different brakes/calipers on it also.It will cost some $$$.
Last year i had Belle Tire try to put 16" chrome rims on my 1995 Deville and they would not even fit over the stock brake pads.Considering all the modifications and $$$ i would have to throw at it just to make bigger wheels fit properly,i got a refund on the wheels and stayed with the stock 15" wheels.
There are other older posts in the forum that explain in more detail the problems created when putting on much larger wheels. It can be done if you`ve got big $$$ to throw at it------you can also forget about your cushy Caddy ride with 20" rims.Sorry to rain on your parade----i`m just stating the facts.
Honestly, your Deville looks great with the stock wheels!
Good luck if you decide to go bigger!

Stick with the factory wheels, PLEASE! If you want different wheels, at least stick with the factory size. I am tired of people tellin' me to throw some "DUBS" on my "'Lac." Its so stupid. Also, these cars do not have the best track record with transmissions. My '95 had only 54k miles on it when the previous owner had the trans rebuilt. Putting on larger wheels dramatically increases strain on the drive train and it could easily destroy your trans in a hurry.

Please don't put 20's on your car. Get yourself some 17's with appropriately sized tires. For example, a 205/70/15 is equivelant to a 215/60/16 (roughly) when upsizing to 16's from 15's. If you go from 215/60/16's to 225/50/17's, you should be fine. This is called a "plus one" by major chains, or if upsizing two inches for rims, a plus two.

20's look like ass on any DeVilles except the newest body style, and even then the look is debatable and subject to scrutiny. Besides that, 20's are so 2005-2007. VIP style is in for 2009, and it calls for 17's and 18's with deep lip. Yes, you can have lip on the FWD Cadillacs. Ever taken a look at how far in the factory wheels sit? Running a lower offset wheel with a 2 or 3" lip will make the wheels sit even with the side of the car, and will stop any rubbing issues one might encounter.

The key to styling modifications is to enhance, not overdo.

Just check your rolling diameter. Most DeVilles have something like a 26" diameter on the tires (ie 205/70/15), so you can fit dumb big wheels on the car as long as the width isn't excessive. Doesn't mean you should put the biggest possible wheel on the car though.

It is true the car will ride like a pinto without shocks...but hey if you want some bling on your ride I say go for it, at least your not driving a riced out Honda or something. Just make sure to have your car's wheels aligned with the aftermarket rims on and balanced.. never had issues with the brakes, the rims are heavier then the stocks. Wish I still had that car.. Have the car painted with chameleon mine would change from orange red to yellow if the sun hit it at a angle.

well i was thinking 18's but i cant get white walls in 18 so ill probably go with like 17's and probably a 205/55/17 tire i just mainly want to kind of dress it up and make it stand out more

Hate to disagree with you but your facts aren't totally correct... to the OP - as long as you retain the correct aspect ratio for your wheels, you shouldn't have a problem. I upgraded to a set of 20" wheels with Lo-Pro tires about 6 months ago, and they are physically the same size as my old wheel/tire setup, so the odometer/speedometer performs correctly without any modification.

My brake setup is more than sufficient for these wheels (if you live in an overly wet climate I might suggest upgrading to ceramic brake pads at the least, but you should be fine with stock setup).

As for the ride, the suspension stays the same no matter what wheels are on the car so your "bounce" quality will stay the same, although you will feel more of the road. Kind of hard to explain unless you've experienced it.

In the end, it's your car and ultimately your decision on what it looks like (I would advise against anything over 22's though)

Here's my car with her 20" rims, no issues with rubbing, stopping, speedo, etc. they fit perfectly

This thread's been dead for 5 years, and mattillac hasn't posted in about as long.

Please feel free to start your own thread.

245/30/20 is about 1" too small in outside diameter.

    ---------------------------
    your original tire was/is 215/70/15 -

you want to keep the overall diameter
as close to the original - 26.85 inches - as possible -

you can't go too crazy on width either -
    215 was stock - 235 is 3/4 of an inch wider -
go much wider than that - and you start rubbing -

so 235/35/20 is about as close as you can get -
though it is somewhat smaller in overall diameter - 26.48" -

the wheel offset will be CRITICAL - and will determine whether or not -
you will have problems with rubbing -

    will 245/30/20s fit?
    not a good match -

    compared to stock -
it is too wide - a full 1 1/4 inch wider - so it will probably rub -

and the overall diameter is more than an inch smaller -
the speedo will be off -

Re: What size rims to get for a 1995 DeVille?

Wheel size won't affect the speedometer, like others have pointed out it's the overall diameter of the tires that will.
Also strange someone said 16" rims won't fit since they came on that body style. Strange things happen when you just start throwing wheels at cars and don't check any clearances first.

And now to find my way back to 2014 somehow?
