02 DTS seat question

Remove this ad
I am thinking of buying a 2002 DeVille DTS and the drivers seat won't go back far enough to make me comfortable. I'm 6'2" and am long waisted so I need more headroom too. Is there any modification to make the seat go back farther and lower?

Jeff

First of all i'm 6'3 and own a 2001 DTS... There is more than enough leg room and the seat slides back far enough... Maybe you are not pushing the Steering Wheel forward as far as it can go! That makes the most room available. U can also lower the seat as low as it can go to give you more head room. But honestly... that is one of the biggest sedans on the market with a cabin space.. For you to say that there isnt enough leg room is completely rediculous! Unless your 7'2! You should be fine!

Re: 02 DTS seat question

I'm 6'2" and have plenty of leg room. That said, your only alternative is to remount the seat track farther back. No idea how big of a job that would be.

Re: 02 DTS seat question

I don't know what the deal with this car is but my knee was only a couple of inches from the dash and I felt cramped. I tried several times to move the seat back and it always stopped at the same place. I am short legged, inseam 34 or 35, so I don't know what's up. I'm going to the dealer to check out a DeVille without the center console and see if that makes a difference.

Re: 02 DTS seat question

Hehe, I just put a DTS center console IN my DHS. I don't notice any less leg room. The only difference that would make is that you could move your knee a little further to the right. That might make it seem like more leg room.

Re: 02 DTS seat question

I have a 34" inseam also and have just enough legroom. My morbidly obese 6'5" b-i-l finds it tight. His leg rubs against the radio when driving, and his gut against the steering wheel. Deflating the lumbar balloon gives a little more legroom, if you haven't tried that.

With the difficulty I have finding 32x34 trousers, I wouldn't call it "short-legged."
