Question Oil change after 2000 miles?!?

Remove this ad
Hello all,

i changed my oil ~2000 miles ago and my oil life is at 8%. Is it really necessary to change the oil after 2000 miles? I know it depends on how u are drive etc....
Oil looks good, not really dark. So, what do u think?

(it's an 92' Sedan DeVille with 117.000miles on it)

Best Regards

You do not have to change your oil after 2000 miles, when the oil was changed last time was the oil life indicator reset?.

Re: Oil change after 2000 miles?!?

I could understand this if you drove 2 blocks in winter and shut down. 10 miles should be enough to heat it up and you should certainly get more than 2000 miles. I would suspect it was not reset. I'd reset it again and watch it to see how fast it decrements. If it seems normal, then change it at 75%.

Funny, I had a '92 Deville, but can't remember how to display it. Have you read the owners manual?

Re: Oil change after 2000 miles?!?

Press "range" and "fuel used" on the fuel data center to see the oil life reading.

If you press and hold "range" and "reset" it will set back to 100%.
