VSS code or Transmission on its way, need some help!

I was driving to work today and with this recent snow/sleet/ice rain there is a lot of slush on certain streets I caught a patch of it and im sure it cause havoc in my engine bay since I am missing the bottom ait deflector cover which i just order lol

Anyways my speedo went crazy started jump around at different speeds and after about a min of this it just dropped to 0, meanwhile my tranny started shifting all over the place beacause of this so I just pulled over turned it off and reset the codes after getting a PCM 0503 VSS code which i later looked up, now I had to make to work so I put it in 3 and drove and in the short 5min drive and banged into every gear on its way to 3rd, and now it bangs from D to R visa versa, now what I want to know is did I blow my tranny or is this some sort of default/safety measure the ECU goes into when something like this happens? one lil tid bit while i was looking for parking at my job the speedo started working again but the banging between gears is still there now.

So now at 102K(miles) im tran shopping online and I know I have a VIN Y(DHS) but what IDEN do i go by is a VAN or AAN?(AAN seems to be more common when searching just dont know which one applies to my car)

Re: VSS code or Transmission on its way, need some help!

If it helps anyone 'diag' my car a lil easier online, I should also mention for the last month or so i've had a PCM0741 code for the 1-2shift solenoid, which hasnt caused a problem for me since i've seen and after further searching on here I found that check the TCC by tapping the breaks at highway speeds to see if it disengages, which it does in my situation so I just went with the advice on here to just ignore and drive.

Further more I just went out to check the codes again in my car the VSS code is no longer, could be that I have not driven enough miles for it to come back since I just reset everything minutes before making it into work.

But turning it on quick in the parking lot and shifting between D and R still caused a noticible jolt into gear, I dont want to admit but it seems like the random shifting while the speedo was bouncy around caused my tranny to go, im really hoping it is in some sort of safety mode to protect the tran

I don't know what to tell you except that P0741 is not a shift solenoid code. It is a TCC solenoid code. TCC stuck off I believe.

Your right dont know why I mentioned that, well whatever caused my irratic shifting yesterday seems to be dryed off over night, car drives smooth again and speedo is working correctly, im gonna install the air deflector shield today im gonna assume since the car was built with the cover in mind something got wet that shouldnt have since I did not have it on, im also going to check the vss wiring and sensor to make there are no shorts or exposed wiring...
