How to Dye Seats

Remove this ad
Just bought some 2000 STS Grey leather seats but i think the actual color name is "Shale". I will be installing these seats in my 1970 Deville Convertible. I'm thinking about dying the whole interior of the 70' black. Door panels, Dash, and the Seats. Does anyone have any experience in dying seats themselves?

I called several upholstery shops and these are some of their prices as fallows:

Bucket Seats: 100$ /each
Rear Bench: 250$
Door Panels: 100$ /each
Dash: 250$

In total he wants to charge me around 1200$ to completely dye the interior.
Can anyone tell me if they think this is way to high a price? Would it be cheaper to dye the seats myself, or is it difficult? Has anyone done this before? What do i have to watch out for? If so, can you list the steps i'll need to take. Thanks alot.
