Magnaflow cat, Now I over heat????

Hey guys

Well My exhaust was leaking a bit, so I went to a local muffler shop and they told me that my cat had a leak, but I was in luck he said he had a magnaflow highflow cat that would work. So long story short he put the cat in and only 5km away and she was overheating to the point that I had to turn her off. Any ideas what may have gone wrong? A bit of back ground on the car 2000 DTS with 272km already did head gaskets about ayear ago.

CadillacP1MP - you're from my neck of the woods - who did the HG work on your DTS? The only way those two could be related is if the new catalytic converter is plugged or too restrictive. I installed a Magnaflow on my '98, small body 3" in and out and she won't pass the e-test- I have to spring for a larger cat converter $$$.

I very much doubt your cat conv. is the problem. Does it feel like it has the power that it should have? Your coolant level- has it dropped at all? Any work done to the cooling system lately? And please answer Ranger's question... the suspense is killing me....

i will be honest i dont know exactly if he used the timesert's and the shop was called A & A automotive. the car ran fine befor i went into this shop today and i do feel a loss in power it was kinda boggin out for a min so i pulled over and shut it off then when i went to try and start it again it wounldnt turn over after a few try's it finally started then i got it home quick without overheating im goin to call the shop that did the headgasket's on monday and see if they where or not
