b4 Thanksgiving. Previously had Timeserts or something similar installed and they had pulled on the front head. Bought the car that way, guy i got it from
said it was a rebuilt engine and had about 11,000 on when it went. Did a lot
of research here and on e-bay and decided on Norms inserts. Seemed to work out pretty good other than having to be extremely careful when removing and drilling out the old ones. Got the car for $700.00 with steel wheels and junk tires, but figured it would be worth it and I kind of like a challenge. As of finishing up and installing a bunch of other new parts which were easier to do now than later, I'm at $3250.00. Car has 132,000 on the clock. Also have a 99 Deville Base 82,000 mi. and a 95 Concours 172,000 mi. Base needs hg job and 95 needs input ss. Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment lol. Great site for 411.
Have a great weekend. |

You must have replaced about everything between the oil pan and the intake. Should be bulletproof for a while. Congrats on completion - that's a hefty job. |

Like idler and torsion pulleys, t chain idler and shaft, bad alt. new a/c comp. as did not want to do that later, battery, wheels from a base Deville for now, and FPR and you know how the nickle dime stuff adds up. Also where prev owner had it parked some very respectable person cut the converter off and its not a pretty job they do, so did some exhaust work. I don't think I should have any problems with the Norms inserts as they seem pretty hefty. All in all i think I've got a pretty decent ride for what I have in it. After all who counts the labor lol.
BTW spent about 12+ hrs washing, buffing and waxing so looks fine now. Will have to get my tail in gear and post some pics. |
