If they ask "should I sell my N*, I say yes. If they ask "Should I buy a N* car", I say no. You revel in it. First you praise the cars to high hell then go through all the same procedures and advice giving when they break and it makes you look pretty smart and knowledgeable (not saying that you are not) when in fact it's just the same 'ole, same 'ole cause you have answered it so many times. |

After the Virginia trip I replaced the thermostat. Lost about 1/2 - 3/4 of a gallon of coolant and replaced it with plain water. Therefore the mixture is not 50/50. When I drive up my driveway (1/4 mile up a very steep gravel road 2 mph with some complete stopps due to holes in road) the coolant temp rose to 235-250 and surge tank overflowed. Each time I toped it off with plain water. Doesn't do this on the highway, steep mountains. However I travel about 2 miles hr up my drive. Could this be due to the coolant mixture not being 50/50 or a HG issue? |

I'm not saying that its the HG but this is the easyest way to either eliminate the HG and take a sigh of relief or to find out that it is a HG and prepare to deal with it.
I'll cross my fingers for you. |

I did:
- Stud Kit (way better than certs)
- Gasket Set
- All O2 Sensors
- All Hoses and Clamps
- Plugs & Wires
- Water Pump
- Radiator
- Timing Chain Guides & Tensioners
- + All of the extras like oil, x fluid, dex cool, brake cleaner etc..
I got most of my parts from rock auto but a few things came from napa
$1800.00 Does alot of extras that arent really needed but where things that my peticular car needed without the extras you could get away with about $1000.00 - $1300.00 depending on where you get your parts.
The HG job is not difficult but there are ALOT of little tedious steps. It is VERY frustrating but when your done you know that you have a car that will not need any major repair for quite a long while and you also learn ALOT about your car. |

Northstar forgot to mention the ability to do this job yourself, which not many people have, so you are looking at a heck of a lot more than $1800 (probably more than double that amount at the very least) if you or you and some friends can't do it. If it turns out to be a HG I would not be surprised based on what you are describing.
